Tell us about your background in sports & fitness and why you became a personal trainer:

From a young age, I have been active in sports such as ballet, swimming, and dragon boat racing. It wasn’t until my first year at University that I stepped into a gym for the first time and immediately realized that just because I was “active”, I was not necessarily fit or strong. My lack of knowledge and confidence in the gym limited me to using a few cardio and resistance machines. My lack of progress coupled with unhealthy habits developed throughout school left me feeling displeased with my health and self-esteem.

I always thought of going to the gym as something that I HAD to do, not WANTED to do and the lack of results was both frustrating and discouraging. As a result, I decided to educate myself and seek assistance in the weight room. This is when the real results happened! After proper guidance, hard work, and consistency, I was able to achieve goals I never thought I could possible.

What has becoming a personal trainer taught you about yourself and fitness?

Prior to weight training, I had so many misconceptions about my own abilities and limitations. Working out allowed me to meet like-minded people and become a part of a supportive community. As I became stronger, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and compete in my first powerlifting competition in 2016. Competing in almost 10 meets and volunteering in several others has allowed me to express my passion for health and fitness while building strong connections.

What can we expect from you as a personal trainer?

As your trainer, I am committed to helping you achieve sustainable results that will positively affect every aspect of your life. The path to your goals will not look similar to mine or anyone else’s. Together we will create your personalized plan using evidence-based practices and your experience of what works for you. As part of this process, I will listen, educate, and coach you, as well as offer emotional and mental support to help you succeed.
